Over forty years of broadbased experience in all phases of petroleum exploration and exploitation concentrated in, but not limited to, the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana, the Gulf of Mexico and the Cook Inlet/Kenai Penninsula of Alaska. Have proven detailed skills in subsurface and geophysical interpretation, prospect evaluation, generation and marketing. Strong seismic and subsurface background, proficient on and own SMT work station and NeuraSection raster imaging cross-section and subsurface mapping program. Computer literate in document generation, data base, spread sheet and internet programs. Experienced in producing property evaluation involving decline curve analysis, economic modeling and other engineering methods. Hands on experience in environmental evaluation and clean-up involving non-hazardous oil field waste. Seven D has working interest in various producing properties.
Mr. Burgers has diversified exploration and production experience in the oil and gas industry, predominantly with ExxonMobil until retirement. He has geological, geophysical and operational experience domestically, as well as internationally. His recent production geology work in conjunction with a reservoir engineer in MX Oil is focused on opportunities in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Louisiana. The plays involve recompletions in conventional as well as development of unconventional plays in the Tertiary, Austin Chalk, Eagle Ford, and Buda. During his employment with ExxonMobil he also worked on the La Luna and Tablazo un-conventional plays, as well as the heavy oil plays in Colombia. Significant time was spend in ExxonMobil on CO2-EOR worldwide opportunities.
Earlier in his career he worked mostly in Exploration on regional evaluations. Mr. Burgers has identified pre- and post-salt opportunities and performed many regional studies. Some of his study areas include Offshore Shelf and Deepwater Gulf of Mexico (Both Mexican and US part), Mexico Onshore, Sub-Sahara Africa in particular Nigeria, Offshore Brazil, and Colombia (On & Offshore). He earned a master’s degree in geology from Leiden University, The Netherlands, and he is fluent in many languages including English and Spanish. He is in the possession of the US Green Card.

I am a petrophysicist with over 395 years of experience in formation evaluation and performing petrophysical interpretations..I use Powerlog, Interactive Petrophysics and Techlog. I have worked with statistical methods too. My phD´s tesis was about a new method to interpret nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). I have worked in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico, as a principal petrophysicist and in teams of integrated studies..
My last work was as a regional manager of a group of unconventional methodologies in Weatherford (for Argentina, Bolivia and Chile),
Experienced petroleum geologist and organizational leader, having directed Shell’s global Deepwater Exploration and Appraisal evaluation program, Shell’s Arctic Exploration program, and between 2009 to 2018 Shell’s Unconventional Exploration and Appraisal program in the U.S., Canada, and multiple international Emerging Basins. During his tenure he has directed the drilling of over 500 exploration and appraisal wells, resulting in the maturation of ~7 billion barrels equivalent of oil and gas either currently on production or in development. His most notable discoveries include Deepwater fields in Angola, Brazil, Nigeria, and the Gulf of Mexico, and multiple unconventional plays in British Columbia, Alberta, the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast, the Delaware Basin in West Texas, Pennsylvania, and Argentina. Since 2018 he has been an independent consultant for multiple clients, working projects in the U.S. Onshore, the Gulf of Mexico, Argentina, and India.
He is Past President of the Division of Professional Affairs of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, serves on the University of Colorado Department of Geological Sciences Advisory Board, is a Trustee Associate of the AAPG Foundation, and is a Trustee of the American Geosciences Institute Foundation. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the AAPG’s Division of Professional Affairs, co-author of two “Discovery Thinking” papers presented at the AAPG annual meeting, and co-author of the DPA special publication “Heritage of the Petroleum Geologist”.
Over thirty-five years of experience with four major oil companies in petroleum exploration, field development and as a consulting geophysicist working internationally. Proven record of accomplishment of oil finding in petroleum exploration and in development of producing fields. Includes acquisition and interpretation of seismic data in onshore and offshore international and domestic operations. Overseas assignments include living and working in Ecuador and London, UK. Speak, read and write Spanish fluently.
Highly skilled interpreter with over 37 years of petroleum industry experience. Expertise with Kingdom, Transform, and Paradigm workstations with experience in conventional plays (since 1982) and unconventional plays (since 2006). I use a structural interpretation methodology based on the book, Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping by Tearpock and Bischke (2003), Recently retired from Pioneer Natural Resources after having mapped and characterized reservoirs in the Midland Basin. Other basins worked are listed below and are a result of work with Encana, EOG, Subsurface Consultants and Associates, Arco, and Placid Oil.
