About Me

Sr. Production Engineer with experience in the oil industry with working knowledge in conventional and unconventional oil plays. Knowledgeable with artificial lift system designs, troubleshooting and failure analysis (gas lift, rod pump, PCP, ESP and jet pump). Experienced with production operation, acid stimulation, recompletion and workover operations in vertical and horizontal wells. Self-motivated and detailed-oriented team player.

From 2011 to 11/2016 EPEnergy, LLC
An independent exploration, and production company, which engages in the acquisition and development of unconventional onshore oil and natural gas properties.

Sr. Production Engineer

Provide the Wolfcamp Business Unit with the expertise to produce and operate unconventional oil shale wells from the Permian Basin under artificial lift systems.

• Provided the development and implementation of artificial lift solutions for the Wolfcamp Asset Team. Evaluated and implemented gas lift on existing and new wells. This execution allowed the Asset to enhanced well performance and benefit to the company. In 2012 the Asset was having poor results, but the gas lift installation made the Wolfcamp a viable development Asset.

• Provided production-engineering support during the development of Wolfcamp formation on logistic, design and operation of artificial lift thru field development. Evaluated and coordinated pumping unit installations and rod pump designs to standardize pumping units and bottomhole assembly based on depth, completion and rate to coordinate the transition from gas lift to rod pump.

• Evaluated and implemented the use of continuous rods, workover procedures and operational parameter changes on more than 100 wells to help minimize rod string and tubing failures on deviated wellbores.

• Evaluated and implemented the installation of electric submersible and jet pumps where the use of gas lift was not feasible. Jet pump was the selected lift for the low formation gas area in the Wolfcamp because of the initial well performance, minimum downtime, low workover cost and maximum runtime.

• Provided production-engineering support to install and optimize artificial lift systems including rod pump, Electric submersible pumps (ESP), Jet Pump and gas lift as well as acid stimulation practices in horizontal wells between 5,000 ft to 6,000 ft of lateral length. Guided new Engineers to execute oil and gas well production analysis to improve well performance using industry standard applications.

• Assigned to the Oil of the Future Pilot Project for the Altamont Asset Team and delivered operational process to improve well diagnostics, surveillance and troubleshooting on rod pump and electric submersible pumps.

• Assigned to the One Virtual Source Project (OVS Group) to provide the development of a workflow to integrate all the surveillance and optimization tools used to enhance production surveillance, optimization and field operations from one source. The surveillance tool was implemented on all Assets of the company to support the Reservoir and Production Teams.

From 2005 to 2011 APEX Petroleum Engineering
APEX provides the oil and gas industry with unique solutions that integrate the major petroleum disciplines: drilling, production, and reservoir engineering. In APEX there are thirty experienced engineers supporting the different petroleum disciplines.

Operations Engineer

Provide APEX clients with expertise in oil/gas well Completion, Operations, and Production Engineering. Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

• Assigned to Occidental of Elk Hills in California to generate and execute capital and expense workover AFE’s to approximately fifty wells per year for their oil plays at their Elk Hills Business Unit to enhance asset value.

• Provided operations engineering support to the optimization of artificial lift systems including rod pump, gas lift and ESP as well as acid stimulation practices in vertical and horizontal wells between 6,000 ft and 8,000 ft.

• Prepared recompletion procedures and cost estimates for wells in Rocky Mountains, California, and Texas Clients.

• Executed many oil and gas well production analysis to determine well performance and liquid loading for the Haynesville and Bakken Formations.

From 1999 to 2002 Petroleos de Venezuela, SA (PDVSA) Petróleos de Venezuela S.A., the state-owned corporation of the Republic of Venezuela, is responsible for the efficient, profitable, and dependable exploration, Production, refining, transport and commerce of hydrocarbons at the time it was an Operator with approximately 40,000 employees.

Production Engineer Leader

Production Engineer in the Extra Heavy Oil Unit in the Bare field (onshore), San Tome, (PDVSA) in eastern Venezuela.

• Led the Production Optimization Group responsible for all operation activities of approximately three hundred wells, with depth 3,500 ft to 4,500 ft completed with Artificial lift methods such as rod pump and ESP.

• Part of the “Integral Methodology for Productivity” program presented a portfolio of opportunities to improve the productivity of a heavy oil field in the Orinoco Oil Belt.

• Coordinated the “Costs based on activity” pilot project, designed to identify opportunities of cost optimization in field operation.

From 1991 to 1999
Production Engineer Supervisor
Assigned as team member of the Alliance of Integral Services for Electro submergible pumps, Exploitation Unit, Urdaneta Heavy oilfield (offshore).

• Coordinated the operations between PDVSA and the contracted field operator, followed up the operational and financial indexes doing a permanent evaluation of contract performance.

Production Engineer (artificial lift) in Lake Maracaibo’s Urdaneta Heavy oilfield (offshore).

• Evaluated approximately one hundred oil wells to select candidates to optimize production.

• Implemented the evaluation of approximately 120 wells under gas lifts to convert to electric submersible pumps where a production increment of 38,000 bpd was obtained.

• Member of the ESP Project of PDVSA’s Western Division (offshore) to evaluate the implementation of ESP in all Business Units.

• Worked as operations supervisor to provide well surveillance to gas lift wells 12,000 ft deep at Central Lake light oilfield in Lake Maracaibo in about 1,000 ft of water.

From 1988 to 1990
Administrator of contracts
• Worked as Contract Administrator at the Maintenance and Construction, and Central Shops departments in Lagoven’s (PDVSA) Western Division.

• Employed as mechanical engineer at Lagoven’s Western Division to provide preventive maintenance (offshore) on the operational boats working in Maracaibo Lake.
